Eligibility & Checking Your Voter Registration

In order to register to vote and cast their ballot, voters must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • At least 18 years of age on or before election day (November 5, 2024)
  • Must have continuously resided in Nevada for at least 30 days before the election (October 6, 2024).
  • Must reside in the precinct, in which they plan to vote, at least 10 days before the election (October 26, 2024).

Pre-Registration Eligibility

U.S. citizens who are 17 years of age, but less than 18 years of age, and have continuously resided in Nevada for 30 days or longer may preregister to vote by any of the means available for a person to register to vote. Individuals who pre-register and are qualified to vote will become officially registered on their 18th birthday.

Formerly Incarcerated Voters

Per AB431, the 2019 Nevada Legislature repealed any barriers to a formerly incarcerated person’s ability to vote. Due to the passage of this law, an individual who was formerly incarcerated in any state and is a Nevada resident, at least 18 years old, and meets all the registration eligibility requirements, is eligible to register and vote. This includes formerly incarcerated individuals who are currently on parole or probation. There is no paperwork or process required; it is in effect upon release.
